Pirlo's comments on Nesta-Azzurri
Many fans still don’t understand why Nesta chose to retire from the Azzurri. Let’s see what Nesta’s close friend Andrea Pirlo thinks.

ask: Totti and Nesta had anounced their farewell to the Nazionale. What do you think?
I feel sorry. They can still make their contributions to the Nazionale as they still play at highest level in both SerieA and the Champions League. However they made the decision themselves and others should respect it. Personally, it is my great regret that I can no longer play football with Nesta in the Azzurri. We are very close friends in all prospectives: roommates and PS buddies. But now I will feel lonely:( In fact Nesta called me before officially announcing his decision. Instinctively, I said “ Nooooo!” but then after thinking through it for a moment, I said “Sandro, you know what’s best for you so you make your own decision.” He has his reasons and it doesn’t make any sense to force him to do something. We can not make decisions for him.
ask: Maybe they lack motivation after winning the World Cup?
I think age is the problem. They are 31 and begin to worry about their physical conditions. As a matter of fact, they are playing football after surviving so many bad injuries. Also, they may want to spend more time with families. I absolutely understand that. I wanna see my two kids after only a couple of days. It would be so hard to go training for ten days without seeing them. I will miss them so. I guess I’ll cry…
托蒂和内斯塔表明退出国家队，你怎么看？
Pirlo：非常遗憾。他俩应该还能继续为国家队做贡献的。他们仍然有在意甲联赛和欧洲冠军联赛中首发的实力。但是退出是他们自己决定的，别人也不该说什么。对我个人来说，不能和内斯塔一起代表国家队踢球是非常遗憾的。从各个方面来说，我和内斯塔都是亲密的朋友。不管是一起住，还是PS对战，真是寂寞呐（笑）。实际上，内斯塔在宣布退出之前，有打电话给我，问我怎么想。我想都没想就说，不要退啊。但是后来我改变了想法，“Alessandro,你照着自己的感觉来生活更好哦“。如果不讲道理地想改变他的想法，这是干什么呢？是他自己感觉想退出的。该怎么选择，这话不该我们来说。
获得世界杯之后是不是会觉得没什么可干的事情了？
Pirlo：我认为是年龄的原因。内斯塔和托蒂 都31岁了，到了对身体担心的年龄。实际上，他们都以满身疮痍的状态站在场上。此外，把和家庭在一起的时间看得很重要的原因也有吧。对于这点，我也深有体会。一旦离开家几天，就会非常迫切地想和两个孩子见面。更别说十天以上的集训一直见不到孩子……真的会想他们想到哭哦（笑）
